Nochipa is a teacher, poet, novelist and artist. She makes her home in southern Appalachia. She holds a bachelor in education and a master’s degree in rural education. During her years as a teacher, she has researched world cultures, languages, religions, histories, philosophies and genetics. Her work has appeared in various publications such as StorySouth, Mid-South Review, Riverwalk Journal, Pegasus, Other Voices International, Coal by Blair Mountain Press, Instructor Magazine and many others. Her work is also to appear in Coal County, by Counterpoint press in conjunction with Sierra Productions as an accompaniment to the fall release of the PBS television documentary [narrated by Ashley Judd], also entitled Coal Country. She is a recipient of the Speculative Poetry Award from the Kentucky State Poetry Society and attends the Appalachian Writers Workshop. Nochipa is a nature lover who enjoys gardening and other outdoor activities. She loves her Appalachian heritage. Much of her work is shaped by the land and its peoples.

  1. I love reading your poetry..it always sturrs something inside of me. makes me think of anouther time, when i was young. I always come away from reading the poems thinking “WOW”..
